Emergency 24 Hour Shelter for Homeless Families (ES)

The shelter can accommodate up to 6 families at a time which usually consist of a single mother with 2 or more children. During their stay, food and personal incidentals are supplied. Our staff provides support services to address unique needs, obtain employment, secure permanent housing and/or access other programs and resources that will enable self sufficiency. Families can stay up to 60 days.

Transitional Housing Program

This program focuses on helping families secure housing to regain independence and achieve self sufficiency. Our staff assists residents in seeking suitable alternatives that include subsidized housing. Families can stay in this program up to one year.

Specialized Foster Care

Friends Association offers a certification program for potential foster parents. This includes ongoing training and support services. Children in need of specialized foster care may be older and could have a history of abuse or neglect so ongoing training and support is provided for all foster families. Support services are available for birth families also.

Specialized Adoption Services

Adoption Services at Friends Association help special needs children find permanent homes. Extensive child and adoptive family profiles are prepared by a staff social worker to facilitate an appropriate match. Friends Association is the only affiliate in Chester County for S.W.A.N., a statewide adoption network of approved and registered families.
